By installing, copying or otherwise using the Client Software, defined below, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement, you are not authorized to use the Software or the Service, both as defined below. In addition, you are only authorized to use the Software and the Service if your use of the Service is permitted under a valid agreement with iPass or an authorized iPass reseller ("Service Agreement"). In the event of a direct conflict between the terms of this Agreement and the terms of the Service Agreement, to the extent that you are a party to the Service Agreement or an employee of any such party, the terms of the Service Agreement shall take precedence. 1. DEFINITIONS 1.1 "Client Software" means the executable version(s) of the iPass-proprietary client software code, including any Updates thereto, and associated end user documentation that iPass, or an iPass authorized reseller, provides you hereunder to enable you to use the Service. The Client Software currently consists of iPassConnectTM, but iPass may provide you Updates that replace this current version. 1.2 "Access Points" means local Internet points of presence to which a User accesses the Service via the Client Software. 1.4 "Service" means iPass' proprietary remote Internet access service that permits users to connect to and use the Internet via Access Points. 1.5 "Software" means the Client Software. 1.6 "Update" means an updated, revised, or enhanced version of the Software that iPass makes available to you, either directly or through an iPass authorized reseller. 2. LICENSES; OWNERSHIP 2.1 Software Licenses. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, iPass grants you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to reproduce (on all computers from which you use the Service and for backup and archival purposes) and execute the Client Software solely to enable your use of the Service. 2.2 Software Use Restrictions. You agree not to cause or permit the reverse engineering, translation, disassembly, or decompilation of the Software. You further agree not to attempt to derive the source code of the Software, whether in whole or in part, except to the extent that laws in your jurisdiction give you the right to do so to obtain information necessary to enable the Software to interoperate with other software; provided that you must first notify iPass of your desire to reverse engineer the Software, and iPass may, in its discretion, either provide such information to you, or impose reasonable terms and conditions on such use of the Software to ensure that iPass' and its suppliers' proprietary rights are protected. 2.3 Ownership. The Software is licensed and not sold. iPass or its suppliers will retain all title, copyright and other proprietary rights in and to the Service, the Software, and any other technology, services, or materials that iPass may provide to you. All rights in and to the foregoing not expressly granted to you in this Agreement are reserved to iPass and its suppliers. Without limiting the foregoing, no right to or license in the source code for the Software is granted hereunder. You agree not to obfuscate, alter, or to remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice or legend on or in the Software. 2.4 Service Use Restrictions. You shall not use the Services to take any actions that (a) infringe on any third party's copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary rights or rights of publicity or privacy; (b) violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including without limitation those regarding export control); (c) are defamatory, trade libelous or unlawfully threatening; (d) are pornographic or obscene; (e) violate any laws regarding unfair competition, antidiscrimination or false advertising, (f) result in the distribution of viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots or other similar harmful or deleterious programming routines, or (g) result in the unauthorized entry to any other machine accessible via the network. You may not use the services to distribute any bulk unsolicited emails or otherwise cause an excessive or disproportionate load on iPass' or its suppliers' infrastructure with the intent to interfere with or disrupt network end users, services or equipment. You shall comply with the usage policies of iPass' suppliers. 3. TERMINATION. If you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, then iPass may provide you written notice of your breach and if you do not cure such breach within fifteen (15) days following the notice date, iPass may suspend the Service and/or terminate this Agreement. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the Software. Without limiting the foregoing, your rights under this Agreement will terminate upon the termination of the Service Agreement. 4. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE, THE SERVICE, AND ALL ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTATION AND MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED TO YOU "AS IS," WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, iPASS AND ALL iPASS SUPPLIERS AND AUTHORIZED RESELLERS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, CONDITIONS, AND REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF TITLE, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE NOT ENTERED INTO THIS AGREEMENT IN RELIANCE UPON ANY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION. IN NO EVENT WILL IPASS' OR IPASS' AUTHORIZED RESELLERS' AGGREGATE LIABILITY RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT EXCEED TEN THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS (US$10,000.00). THE FOREGOING LIMITATION IS CUMULATIVE WITH ALL PAYMENTS BEING AGGREGATED TO DETERMINE SATISFACTION OF THE LIMIT. THE EXISTENCE OF ONE OR MORE CLAIMS WILL NOT ENLARGE THE LIMIT. NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY, IPASS DOES NOT EXCLUDE LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, OR PERSONAL INJURY AND DEATH RESULTING FROM ITS NEGLIGENCE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SO THIS LIMITATION AND EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. iPass, its authorized resellers and its suppliers exercise no control whatsoever over the content of the information passing through their systems. Welcome to iPassConnect™ for Windows Mobile 6.0!

The iPassConnect client is an easy-to-use PDA client that allows remote users to connect to the Internet through iPass’ global network of providers. This client supports both PDAs and Smartphones.

You can make selections either by tapping or using softkeys in case of PDAs whereas in case of Smartphones, navigation and selection is done exclusively through the use of navigation keys and softkeys as tapping is not applicable in these devices.

Getting Started

Before using iPassConnect for the first time, you should configure the client with your basic settings.

Login Information: includes basic login credentials for all users.

Login Information

iPassConnect can store your login information, making it convenient for you to log in. You will generally need to enter this information only once, prior to using iPassConnect for the first time.

To set your login credentials:

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Login Information.

  2. Under User Name, enter your Internet user name.

  3. Under Password, enter your Internet password. (Your password must be 16 characters or less in length.)

  4. Under Project Code, enter your department or project.

  5. Select the domain name from the Domain list. Alternately, you can type the domain name. (Note: Check with your help desk to see if the above two values are required in order to log in.)

  6. Select the Save Password check box if you want iPassConnect to store your Internet password.

  7. Tap OK.

Connecting to WiFi Networks

iPassConnect will automatically display all the detected Wi-Fi hotspots, on the main screen as an Available Wireless Network, sorted in order of iPass-enabled hotspots, and then by signal strength. Three types of WiFi hotspots are displayed in the list, iPass Enabled Networks, distinguished by the iPass logo, Customer Networks and Personal WiFi Networks.

Tap the name of a network to connect to, or use the left softkey to Connect after selecting it.

Instead of tapping, you can also use the Left/Right Softkeys to select menu options. Use Navigation control to scroll through the menu options.

Auto-Connect

Auto-Connect

This is a feature by which iPassConnect tries to connect automatically after a timeout once the application has been started. It also tries to re-connect automatically whenever a connection has been dropped. In case of non-iPass Networks, the End User can decide whether he wishes to use a particular hotspot for Auto Connect or not.

To Enable the Auto Connect feature:

  1. Tap Menu > Settings > Auto Connect.

  2. Select the Enable for iPass networks check box to enable Auto Connect using iPass networks.

  3. Select the Enable for non iPass networks check box to enable Auto Connect using non-iPass networks.

  4. Use Max Retries to specify the maximum number of times Auto Connect should attempt to re-connect before giving up.

  5. Tap OK.

In case of non-iPass network, additional configuration has to be done in order to enable Auto Connect using these hotspots.

  1. Tap Menu > Book B*<##mark.

  2. Select the non-iPass Bookmark you wish to configure for Auto Connect.

  3. Tap Menu > Details.

  4. Select the Enable Auto Connect check box to enable Auto Connect using this hotspot.
